CHANNEL SWIMMERS

Every year between late June to the end of September, people travel from all around the world to swim the 21 miles (if you’re lucky) across the English Channel. Capt Matthew Webb was the first person to swim the English Channel in 1875 and made the crossing in 21 hours and 45 minutes. The current record is 6 hours and 55 minutes. The total number of successful swims to date is 1912. More people have climbed Mount Everest.
